Install that new 3080 that we know you purchased and watch that drop to 9 weeks.

My son starts college (hopefully) next fall. I’m hoping money will still be cheap. My financial guy seems to think it will.

Whats up? My 9 years.....was from when I folded for Overclockersclub long ago, then changed my folding name  to fold for us.

My buddy the Oxford economist and “classics major” thinks interest rates will be low for another 400 years. Unlike “levels of poverty” which will be high..

... just like in mid-Roman times in Londinium.

Btw, the 3080 is estimated to churn 7.2m points/day......

When Monty Python becomes relevant, things could be better.

Well, the trouble is that it costs me about $100/mo to fold full time with the 1080 that I bought this summer . I have to decide whether to let my employer pay for it or install some solar panels myself. I am struggling with the notion of the carbon footprint of folding. I can’t imagine what a 3080 would or will cost, when the 2080 is still well north of a grand.

I haven’t folded much in several weeks since my electric bill went up.

I only regret that Kinja no longer allows sharing comments directly to a blog.

I’m not a financial expert but given that the financial experts at the fed have said outright they expect to charge functionally zero interest to banks   for the next 2 years at least, that seems like a safe bet.

And the 3090 is 10.7m, but the cost per point is crazy. The folding forums are already pointint to the 3080 as the best position in folding investment when taking points per day/watts energy cost, divided into purchase cost to buy, its a good value proposition.....if purely folding. I just see a $700 card and say, uh, no.

Linus Tech Tips just put up a review of gaming on a ibg 8k tv on a 3090 and it dominated. ran 8k/60fps on high settings. Truly another level of horsepower

I can only imagine what it must be like to have such a card. I'm currently running a Radeon R9 290 that I bought off a coworker for $60 CAD. Maybe in another 10 years...

It would be compl etely underutilized on a 1080 or 1440 monitor.
